Folks,
I went and read through some Knoxville newspaper articles today. Man, talk about an angry fan base. Vols fans are ready to run half the UT Administration out of town. Compared to them, disgruntled Wildcat fans are pretty mild mannered.

knoxville news
"losing to kentucky is bad for ut fans. becoming kentucky is worse". can't help but chuckle at that. the most glaring thing to me in that article is the fact that ut only started 4 (FOUR) seniors. that makes it even more pitiful

To me that comment shows that
To me that comment shows that it's a good thing we got them this year, because they are clearly reloading for the future. I don't know how much better they will be next year, but I would expect them to improve over this year. We lose a lot off this year's team, so I'm not sure what we can expect next year because I just don't know how much depth we have. I will say that if we don't find someone who can make a play offensively, we can expect a year similar to what we saw this year. I'd like to be optimistic about our future, but I just don't know enough about our returning roster and our recruiting class to be terribly excited. Someone give me a reason, please.

I wish i could AlaCat. I can
I wish i could AlaCat. I can tell you on paper we have some playmakers. Towles is coming andf the redshirt frosh this year Cobbins will compete for the QB. He is a triple threat guy like Cobb who can pass, run, and perhaps return balls. The problem is still, we have the same coaching staff. I think we have some talent coming back as well as some coming in. Can our coaches coach them? I have my doubts.

FIRE BARNFART!!!!!!!!!!!
talent coming back? we didnt' have any talent to begin with...and we got only one wideout commit...we will still have no play makers there.....pass and return balls? somehow that doesn't make sense..most qbs do not return kicks....

I think Pep's point with
I think Pep's point with Cobbins is that he may be a QB right now, but may very well end up playing a role similar to the one Cobb played, particularly if Smith continues to develop as a QB and Newton can get his game together. Those two could give us a solid tandem at QB and allow us to redshirt the kid we signed this year. As I've said before, the way you build a program is by redshirting freshmen so they have time to mature before they're thrown into the SEC fire. Having to play true freshmen usually is an indication that you lack the kind of depth it takes to be successful in the league. Either that or the kid is so darned good you just can't keep them off the field. We don't get any of those kids, however. Our freshmen tend to play because they have to.

My point is Ala I attended
My point is Ala I attended about a half dozen practices this summer and fall and we have some talent at the skilled positions. Whether it's being coached right or used right is open for debate but I can tell you, that guys like Cobbins, or Daryl Collins who chose UK over Ala and on defense Glenn Faulkner will be a shut down type corner if he's coached right and he works hard. Collins was hurt this yr. The coached need to do a better job of getting these type players ready to play at this level. At this point since it's already been decided that Joker will be back, it's just counter productive to have the sky is falling attitude and get behind the team and coaches again hoping they can coach better next season. That's what a true fan does. Pi_ sing and moaning about all winter isn't going to change things. Neither is firing barnhart at this point.

So
BIGRUFDOG, you have been at the practices to watch these young men practice? Just what are your credentials for making your judgement? Not saying I agree or disagree about firing Barnhart, I just think your wasting your time making an effort to get that done, it's not going to happen.

Well PphD
The Barnhart subject goes on and on because it is a perspectoral debate. If he were at LSU, alabama, Georgia, or Tennessee he would havd been run ou of town under Brooks, and the very second he promted Joker....But he is at UK, hired and fired BCG and got Cal so 50% of the fans love him and 50% hate hime..............verdict..if he competes for a NCAA championship in BB he is secure. BUT if you are tal;king purely FB he should have gone prior to now. The trend we have been is was predictable and still is. Ifyou want this program to rise above itself and compete on the winning side consistently with Ark, Geo, Tn, Miss St, and predict wins over all except Al, LSU Florida, and Auburn ht ebarnhart plan is a failure. If you want to make the roll call for one of 66 bowl teams and beat your chest as a great program because of it, barnhart is your guy. So from one perspective, great basketball and a pseudo competetive FB team we are there. Can't fire him. If you want to be on the high side of the mountain in FB in the SEC, you need a big time FB AD that would die if he got beat by Vandy, then that ain't us, and no use in losing sleep over it. The next question is? In todays economy is it worth $2600 a year for 4 season teckets and a parking pass?......yea yea the $900 donation is deductabled. OK then call it $2300 a year after the deduction net worth. Survey says....-0t98-0[dt,9p538r\-qeu...bahhhhhhhhhh
For the UK FB fan it makes a whole lot of sense to stay at home, watch it on the big screen or hook your ESPN3 compooter to it. And savd your cash for a few BB games getting scalped. Would you prefer to get scalped and watch BB or get scalped up front reserving seats at commonwealth NOT......not unless you see a big time change. Aint happnin..........look at the trends. Brooks gets us consistently in the top 66 going to a bowl with 2 SEC wins a lock. With all this huge success so easily sold....HELLO Joker....and give ol' Mitch a huge bonus and extention. Even though he should have replaced Tubby earlier he is the best thing to ever hit UK since Dan Issle just for swapping BCG for the king of SAT......go cats.

Well, wise , your all over
Well, wise , your all over the place with this post as usuall. I didn't say I didn't want Barnhart to be fired or not. I said it was waste of time to try and get him fired through whatever reason, because it wasn't going to happen. I will say this, UK is one of a handful of college athletic programs across the country that makes money. You can fault him for the f-ball coach hire, the BCG, hire, and IMO the baseball hire. But bottom line he does a good job running an athletic dept, keeping the head above water and that is a difficult job in todays world. He has kids, a wife, a mother and dad, he is human. I know of all the things I do in my job, whether it be teach, talk with students on personal level, grade papers, input grades and attendance, maintin discipline in the classroom, etc, I know that if i screwed one of those up, I don't want to be fired for that considering I've done weel in the other aspects of the job and i know my family would appreciate me not being fired either.
